Dr. Kim Benton is a nationally respected education leader with more than four decades of service to public education in Mississippi. She served as Interim State Superintendent of Education and as Chief Academic Officer and Deputy State Superintendent, where she led the implementation of landmark initiatives that contributed to Mississippi’s nationally recognized academic gains—often referred to as the Mississippi Miracle.

Dr. Benton has played a pivotal role in advancing literacy, college- and career-ready standards, and early childhood education across the state. A former teacher, instructional coach, principal, district leader, and superintendent, she brings deep system-level insight grounded in classroom experience.

At the Catalyst Summit 2026, Dr. Benton will share lessons from Mississippi’s education transformation and explore what it takes for educators and leaders to sustain momentum and shape the future of learning.
